Princess Diana was a great lover of the island of Nevis before her death in 1997.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding has since passed and talk of where they jetted off to for their honeymoon continues to dominate the headlines in the royal-watching press. But the royal family are keeping it a closely guarded secret.
We here at Nevis Adventures are keeping our fingers crossed that the newlyweds chose the unspoiled and luxurious Caribbean island of Nevis – and if you haven’t heard of it, that’s the point.
The postcard-perfect island is one of the exclusive hotspots in the running for the royal couple’s honeymoon. It is a mere 36 square miles island southeast of Puerto Rico – boasting heavenly white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and lush green mountain slopes. Add to that, 14000 friendly locals, delicious food, and plenty of activities to make it the perfect honeymoon spot for the royal couple.
There’s no doubt Nevis already holds a special place in Harry’s heart. He first visited the island back in 1993 with his mother, Princess Diana, and returned once more during a 2016 royal tour of the Caribbean, visiting the appropriately named Lovers Beach, where he helped release baby turtles into the sea.
Voted Reader’s Choice as the most romantic Caribbean island for 2017, there’s no denying that Nevis is an ideal destination for any honeymoon. And with its tranquility and privacy, it’s appeal to the royal family is clear. But who knows if we’ll ever find out where they went?
